Swift Images

My camera is buggered.  I have no idea what's wrong with it except that the lenses protrude out and refuse to go back down.

Yes, you guessed it.  I am a bit of a camera moron.  Somehow the intricacies of cameras escape me.  Yet I can take some pretty kick-ass shots.  Especially of food.  For some reason I take fantastic food shots but fail miserably with people shots.  Sure, I take fairly good group shots and the such for the usual memorabilia of events etc (I am an artist after all), but when it comes to good portrait shots of the ilk I like, I suck.  I am not sure why but one day I may take lessons just so I can sort it out.

So I have a deep admiration for people who take fantastic portrait shots.  Like Lara Swift.  I blundered across her site on Flickr and was blown away.

She's absolutely gorgeous too as she is her own model.  It's almost enough to make you hate the woman.  Beauty plus talent but you can only admire wistfully.  Impossible to dislike such immense talent.

Her style is ethereal with a gentle hint of the macabre and gothic.  The use of soft filters, muted hues and enhanced lighting make her photos more surreal than they are.

Although she is a fantastic subject, I do think she should explore other subjects to spread her wings more.  I would love to see her do childrens' portraits in the same style.  Think Kirsten Dunst in Interview with a Vampire.  Fab.  Anne Geddes would have a coronary.
